The Warehouse Cafe, Digbeth | Restaurant Review

I turned 24 recently and went out to The Warehouse Cafe for my birthday dinner. I've been there a few times in the past, but they've completely redone the place since and I wanted to check it out.

Originally in the upstairs of the building, the restaurant has moved - or extended - downstairs. It's a lovely open dining area with huge doors at the front. I can imagine it will be lovely having them wide open in the summertime. The guys working the night we went were lovely, providing great service and chatting about plans and the future for The Warehouse Cafe. Now, onto the food...

We decided to get two starters and share them so first up we had the Warehouse Messe, which was hummus, carrot & caraway pate, olive tapenade and crisp bread. Being totally honest, I would have preferred a few extra bits to dip with, but other than that it was fine. We also shared the falafel starter which came with an absolutely delicious hummus.

The special that night was a seitan kebab which I was sold on straight away, as was my boyfriend so we both got one. It was quite scarily similar to standard kebab meat, but it was really tasty and definitely something I'd order again if it makes it to the permanent menu.

I went for a blueberry cheesecake for dessert which thankfully after all that food, wasn't too heavy and had a lovely granola-esque base. My boyfriend had the spiced plum and apple crumble with custard which was just as delicious - you can't go wrong with a crumble.

If you're ever in the area and fancy something to eat, whether you just want a burger and chips or you'd prefer the full works of a three-course meal, I'd definitely recommend The Warehouse Cafe.
